| 内容記述 | TESOLでは，1980年代にESP（English for Specific Purposes）が普及したが，とりわけJohn Swales等が提案したgenre analysisに基づくさまざまな教授法が発展した。筆者はファッション系の学生に対し英語教育をする立場にあり，適切な教材を探すことが課題であった。そこで，ファッション業界での代表的な英語の文書であるファッションショーのプレスリリースを一つのgenreとして取り上げ，教材としての適用性を探ってみた。テキストプロセシングのパソコン用ソフトを用い，語彙などの特徴を分析した。その結果，英語で最もよく使われる2000の単語とAcademic Word List (AWL)に記載されている570の単語の知識があれば，ファッション専門用語を習得することにより，多くの学生は英文のファッションショーのプレスリリースを理解することが可能であることを証明した。 | |||||||

| 内容記述 | In this paper I will make an attempt to show that the Fashion Show Press Release is an appropriate genre for the teaching and learning of English to students majoring in fashion-oriented programs. A genre analysis will be performed identifying the key moves or main parts that comprise this genre, and an in-depth analysis of one of the characteristic moves will be conducted to determine its lexico-grammatical features. Computational analysis will validate that the text of a Fashion Show Press Release can be comprehended with a knowledge of the 2000 most frequent words in the English language and the 570 words in the Academic Word List (AWL), with additional teaching of “technical” vocabulary. | |||||||
