| 内容記述 | Fish leather has been attracting interest in fashion research as an innovative and sustainable material. This study argues that fish skin also has the capacity to expand the current pedagogical frameworks by encouraging alternative material practices. Drawing on Hahn’s (2024) ethnological design methodologies, the study endeavours to show that engaging with fish skin can broaden fashion curricula beyond the conventional, Eurocentric construction methods by integrating cultural narratives, ethical considerations, and systemic perspectives on sustainability. While the traditional Ainu uses of fish skin illustrate its cultural depth, the focus here is on how such knowledge can be translated into contemporary design education to cultivate critical, solution-oriented thinking. Integrating ethnological perspectives into curricula can encourage students to consider alternative construction methods, engage with heritage, and situate fashion practice within broader socio-environmental systems. In this way, fish skin offers a novel material resource and a catalyst for reimagining sustainable and responsible design education. | |||||||
