Representative images of kindergarteners were compiled into four kinds of patterns after total of 1469 ones were observed in front of a certain private kindergarten in Tokyo in May and June of 1995. Three patterns of them were used as stimuli to 351 kindergarteners' mothers in the application of Hayashi's third quantification method. Affirmative or negative responses were obtained with respect to 23 feeling expressions which correspond to categories in the method. As a result, present kindergarteners' images were analyzed to be expressed by two kinds of independent factors under the condition of 23 categories. One is a personal intention in public or formal clothing. The other is a progressive or conservative attitude toward clothing fashion. The evalution of each clothing pattern by the method coincided closely with the interpretation by authors' impression of it. Therefore, it is concluded that the selected clothing patterns in this study may represent the present status of kindergarteners. |
