Clothing status of old woman generation was investigated at Togenuki-jizo. Sugamo in Tokyo which is one of the most popular places for many old women to go together in the late summer of 1994. The wears of the total of 610 women were observed to be apparently classified. Seventy -one of them were interviewed to clarify their purchasing and behavior consciousness in clothing fashion. The following results were obtained : 1. The countermeasures to cover physical defects which were caused by aging were generally observed at their clothing. A belt was used for a one - piece dress to prohibit empirically the convection thermal transfer. "Mon - sla" was widely used to keep their daily activity and thermal insulation, which is modified slacks for old woman. 2. Their clothing forms were classified into four types. A : a one -piece with a belt, B : a one-piece without a belt, C : a suit, and D : a two-piece dress. The first, the second and the third types account for about 10% of their wears. The fourth type about 70%. Moreover, it was found that they represented their behavior characteristics. 3. Potentially, most of the old women also have the intention to dress themselves fashion-ably. In addition, they select their wears from the standpoint of health and safety. It is thought that the original fashion should be developed for old women generation. |
