年に文学の領域から口頭発表をする機会があった。本研究ノートは、この内容から発展させて書かれたものである。かの地で優れた純文学が生まれていないことが残念ではあるが、その牧歌的な美しさはロマンス志向の作家達を引きつけてきた。古くはThe Shepherd of the Hills やThe Bald-Knobbers の舞台であり、作中の町を逃れた青年は、清い心の乙女に出会い恋をした。研究ノートのうち、この2 作品については主にジョン・ハン氏の手によるものであり、The Witness については久保田
