The goal was for students to learn how to choose a book and enjoyably read at their own pace, and for students to create a learning environment in the classroom without instruction by a lecturer. The first half of this paper reported the history up to offering a \"Silent Reading Class\" , as well as the actual situation of the class. The second half of the paper discussed the problem areas and areas to improve for a \"Silent Reading Class\" that were clarified according to questionnaires and interviews completed by applicants after the class.
