It is obvious that these motifs, such as roses or geometrical figures, were influenced by Western designs. We want to clarify the development of this “fever” for kimono with modernized patterns by investigating the articles in the Japanese women’s magazines and stored items in the museums in Japan. This fiscal year we investigated the following points: 1) modernized ways to wear kimono in women’s magazines 2) one of the largest department stores in Japan, Mitsukoshi’s promotional strategy for kimono with modernized patterns 3) collection of kimonos with modernized patterns in Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum. These points help us understand one important aspect of the modernization of kimonos}, title = {モダン着物の流行と着装・作法の変容 : 服飾博物館収蔵品の事例を中心に}, year = {2012} }
