In order to pursue this idea, the present authors examined the sense of seasons which inherited from ancient period in “KASANE-IROME". "KASANE-IROME" means the arrangement of colors of the costumes which associated with flowers or plants of seasons since the Heian Period. The descriptions about "KASANE-IROME" in the records of "UTA-AWASE", a poetical composition match, and in the literature written in the Heian period has been examined. The relationship between seasons and costume colors in “SHOZOKU-SHO”, books concerning costumes, has been analyzed. On the other hand, the authors made several woven and knitted fabric samples using wool yarns of the two or three colors, selected in the present investigation of "KASANE-IROME". In the work of next year, the more woven and knitted fabrics and some dyed fabrics will be produced as the samples for the study. These samples will be supplied for the research of questionnaire, and it will be clarified that the color combination in the samples induces the feeling of seasons on the subjects of the questionnaire.
