In this FY, we planned to understand (1) the characteristics of handicrafts and clothing styles of different ethnics; (2) the connections among the making of cloth, clothes and crafts, fashion practices, dressing-up and gender identity of women who suffered from political conflicts and tsunami disaster; (3) the ways of associating tradition, Islamic culture, and global influence with Aceh people’s life. We kept multi-sited, exploratory and focused fieldwork method, and added research on people of two ethnic backgrounds: Tamiang in the north-east area and Chinese along the north coast. We also started ethnographic research on the symbolism attached to Kopiah Meuketob, a traditional male headwear, and the system of its production in a rural village. For data analysis, we introduced Aceh concept of Sosial (Social, English trans.) to deepen our discussion}, title = {衣服・布づくりと人間の自立についての研究―インドネシア・アチェ州の事例調査}, year = {2011} }
