In 2010, we firstly collected previous fashion and popular culture studies done in foreign countries. We found many intriguing studies, but we came upon one which was particularly noteworthy. As a means of clarifying the relationship between fashion and pop culture, we collected books written by Angela McRobbie. Second, we collected music magazines for their representative examples of Japanese fashion, since fashions are often influenced by musicians. Through analyzing the fashions represented in music magazines, we proposed a hypothesis that a musicians turn to them as models for their own fashion expression. Third, we collected magazines about “costume-play” as examples of pop culture. As a result, we hypothesized that magazines about “costume-play” seems to transform themselves into fashion magazines in later years. Fourth, we joined an international association about Japanese pop culture fashion, because many scientific studies on Japanese pop culture fashion are done in foreign countries. In addition, we interviewed organizers of a pop culture event in Thailand. We learned that fashion as a Japanese pop culture was popular in Thailand, with Thai youth at its core. In addition, we discovered that they held an event for new Japanese pop culture and were planning to promote Thailand as a destination suitable for Japanese sightseers}, title = {日本ファッションにおけるポップカルチャー的背景に関する研究 : 戦後日本のポップカルチャー資料収集を中心に}, year = {2011} }
