Many foreigners are highly interested in Japanese culture. Therefore it is necessary to examine how to show and explain the traditional culture of Japan. With a diverse background concerning “Kimono” culture, the purpose of this research is to develop an educational program to teach a “Kimono” culture as a folklore and then to transmit the information to the world. We focused especially on “Yukata” and plan to develop an experiential type of education program including how to wear a “Yukata”. This year we started developing digital teaching materials (how to wear and how to fold “Yukata” for men and women) both in Japanese and English version. We also started developing the class practice at Yokohama junior high school (Yokohama National University, Department of education and human sciences). In United Kingdom, we conducted 1) the questionnaire survey of Japanese culture, 2) practicing how to wear “Yukata” by using DVD we made, 3) evaluating the DVD, 4) the questionnaire survey of feeling after dressing “Yukata” for university students and working people by cooperation the local Japanese association and co-researcher Mr. Zanker (PGCE/MSc Design and Technology Subject Leader of the Loughborough University in Britain)}, title = {「きもの」文化の伝承と発信のための教育プログラムの開発 : 「きもの」の着装を含む体験学習と海外への発信}, year = {2010} }
