It appears the dress was imagined and constructed as a gorgeous rose on the black velvet body, because the red satin crape, seen on the face of the dress, was utilized on the inside of the bodies as well as the foundation supporting the dress. The pattern of the bodice, cut at the high-waist position, was development in a near circle pattern with joined tucks to construct a three-dimensional rose –like shape.
